DuMont Network
I just found out that this originally aired in April 1951. This would mean that this episode aired on the popular yet short lived DuMont Television Network. The network started in 1946 and ceased broadcasting in 1956. This would also explain the DuMont-style production techniques and ideals.

Interesting old series
This aired during the 50's and featured requests from people asking to see stuff performed live on TV. However, this episode also features an incredibly sexy archer performing a william-tell like stunt, and makes one wonder why today's world thinks it's so "smart"; Clearly, people in the middle ages knew sexy fashion better than today's youth. Also featured is pre-filmed footage of an octopus, and 100% live demonstrations of how to avoid card sharks.
